2007 Conference

On behalf of the board of directors for the EMA I would like to thank the Cincinnati Zoo, Indianapolis Zoo,  Louisville Zoo and all of the members who were able to attend and contribute to this years’ conference. I believe it was one of the most productive and interesting I have been to. Besides the presentations given we held workshops on enrichment, training and knot tying. We held a panel discussion of elephant professionals, along with a representative of the department of Agriculture, to discuss pending tuberculosis recommendations (check the web site and JEMA for information). We have had an incredibly successful year and 2008 is already looking promising for the organization with next years’ conference in central Florida to be hosted by Feld Inc. some time in November. So, continue to submit articles and start thinking about what you may want to present and share with your organization at the next meeting so we can all continue to raise the standards of elephant care and help the EMA grow.
